Who is God?

Mankinds concept of God has fluctuated from some well thought-out theories to extremely ridiculous fantasies.   Many ideas are involved with ethnic traditions and beliefs.   In this age of tolerance we are told that the truth lies in the beliefs of the individual, and not one unified truth that applies to everyone.   We are pushed in a direction that says each belief is right in spite of the fact that they conflict with each other in ways that cannot be resolved.   I am a proponent and follower of the One True God.   My truth claim that all other ideas and fantasies are false and misguided stems from my belief in Gods Word, otherwise known as the Bible.    The Bible is an account of Gods direct involvement with mankind that lasted for thousands of years.   It is the only written account that tells us about God, His attitudes, His capabilities, and His intentions toward the human race.    The following are the attributes of God that have been gleaned from the study of the Bible:

God is Sovereign!   As the creator of everything, it stands to reason that God owns everything.   The one who creates the game gets to make all the rules.   If you believe in royalty, God is the epitome of royalty.   Whatever position of authority that you can imagine, God is at the head of it all.   Absolute dominion and authority over this world is His to command according to His will.   Psalms 103:19  The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.

God is Omnipotent!   God is an all-powerful force that is far beyond our capacity to imagine.   One of the themes in science-fiction books is the speculation of how the human race will be able to harness science in yet barely imaginable ways to do things and go places that we can only speculate about in the here and now of reality.    God has already far exceeded what mankind can only imagine.   Psalms 33:6-9 By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.   He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.   Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.   For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

God is Omniscient!   Wouldnt the creator of everything; the heavens and the earth and everything contained therein, have to know literally everything in order to accomplish this?   We cant imagine, or even catalog, the knowledge that was necessary to setting the planets in orbit around innumerable stars or the details of the aerodynamics involved when a bumblebee flies.   God possesses all knowledge in all fields of endeavor that mankind is aware of so far and much more.   Many scientists admit that they are just discovering how God did it, instead of claiming that they themselves are discovering this and that for themselves.    Psalms 147:5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

God is Omnipresent!   God is not limited to a physical form and we cant truly comprehend an existence that encompasses an awareness of, and interaction with, all of creation at the same time.   I doubt that this statement comes very close to being accurate because God created time itself, so God could very well be present everywhere and everywhen in the universe.   God is there wherever you are.   He has no limits!    Psalms 33:13&14 The Lord looks from heaven; He sees the sons of men.   From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth.

God is Eternal!   Even with our limited ability to understand God, it is self-evident that considering that God is Sovereign, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent, it is inconceivable that there might have been a greater power that created Him.   God had no beginning and will have no end to His existence.   He always was and always will be in existence.   He is The Everlasting Creator of all.                                                                                                                                                                   Psalms 41:13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting! Amen & Amen.

God is Immutable!   The reason that people change their minds about things is because new facts, resources, opportunities, and many other factors make it evident that a change would be in their own best interests.    God has perfect knowledge on all subjects because He is the creator of everything.   That said; God makes perfect decisions about all things, past present and future, so there will never be a reason for Him to change His mind on any subject, ever.   Gods attitudes and judgment of the activities of the human race as recorded in His Word, the Bible, is set forever.   God is Immutable and will never change His mind.   This is why that the Bible is so extremely valuable to us in this day and age because it tells us exactly what Gods thoughts are on a host of subjects that do apply to us right now.   Psalms 102:27 But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.   Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I do not change; - -

The Veracity of God is absolute!   People can tell lies and they do tell lies too often, but God will not, ever.   Gods truth is the only truth since He created everything.   Truth is absolute and not defined by individuals according to their whims, or sense of rightness.   Gods truth is not negotiable or mutable.   Thats why we go to Gods Word, the Bible, to discover for ourselves what truth is, and what it is not.   Psalms 117:2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us,  and the truth of the Lord endures forever.   Praise the Lord.

God is Righteous!   God is correct, right, and righteous in all respects.   As stated; He created the game, so He makes the rules!   His rules are the only righteous rules in existence.   Nothing and no one can supersede what God has declared to be right and wrong.   Right is doing His will in your life.   Wrong is acting against His will in your life.   Psalms 11:7 For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

God is Just!   The perfect administration of justice by The God whose truthfulness, immutability, and righteousness are perfect, is a certainty!   Make no mistake!   Gods Justice will be applied according to His rules that He established since the beginning of time, not according to our individual sense of fairness.   It will be impartial and conform to His truth, not what this world imagines the truth to be.   Psalms 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundations of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before your face.

God is Faithful!   This is an area where mankind is getting increasingly worse.   The threat of litigation has replaced an individuals trustworthiness.   Sealing a contract by a handshake is a thing of the past.    Most people just cant be trusted to faithfully do what they say or agree to do.   That is not the case with our Lord God!   He has always been faithful to fulfill all of His promises, oaths, and agreements.   Our perfect God has been, and will always be, perfectly faithful in everything.   Psalms 33:4 For the Word of the Lord is upright, and all of His work is done in faithfulness.

God is Love!   Its only natural for us to feel love for our children.   We all feel a normal pride and sense of satisfaction when we create something with our own hands.   By these emotions, we can have an inkling of what God feels towards us.    Nobody can pretend to know the heart and mind of God, but the Bible is full of examples of His love and patience towards His people as described in the Old Testament.   Remember, God does not change, and the love He expressed in the past is still there for the descendants of His creation.   Psalms 33:5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.

These attributes describe who God is and what He is like.   This description is in human terms and concepts and does not come very close to the reality of God.   Our minds are truly incapable of encompassing the reality of God.   It is enough to say that our perfect God and Heavenly Father is truly worthy of our love and devotion.   The closer we draw to Him, the closer to perfection we come on this earth, and in this life.   God has already judged us according to His justice and righteousness, and we fall short of His values.    Because He loves us, He has provided us with a remedy for our shortcomings.   That remedy is Jesus:

Romans 3:21-24 But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of god through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.   For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

How can anyone doubt Gods love for us when you see that our redemption, our salvation, is a free gift from God to those who will choose to have faith in His Son Jesus.   The fundamentals of a contract is an offer by someone, and acceptance by a second party (finance 101).   Here God is offering a way for an individual to become acceptable to Himself and become part of His family.   Because sinners cannot come near to God the Father, the sins have to be paid for somehow.   The choice is for the individual to pay for all sins committed during his/her lifetime by going to the place of punishment at the end of life on this earth, or accepting the fact that Jesus died for you personally to pay for all your sins, if you can only accept that gift from God in your heart.   By acceptance, a contract is sealed.   Gods contracts are forever.   Will you accept this generous offer?   Will you believe, and have faith in Jesus?

Romans 4:21: [Are you fully persuaded that what God has promised; He is able to perform?]
